Last summer, Cambridge University students voted almost 3/4 in favour of replacing all meat and dairy on the catering menus across the site with plant-based alternatives. Now two of the UK's other top-10 universities have done the same. Supported by the Plant Based Universities group, students at Bristol and Imperial have voted to transition the catering in all university restaurants and cafes to plant-based foods.
Hollie Meyers, a 4th year Medicine student at Imperial College London says, “We are overjoyed to see our fellow students join calls for Imperial to show that it takes the climate crisis seriously and begin the move toward cheap, nutritious, and delicious plant-based menus. Animal farming and fishing are wrecking the planet and the lives of millions across the globe and now is the time to take a definitive step towards a plant-based future.”
